My friend and I got a chance to join a cooking class together at Bali Asli Restaurant. We leave at 7 AM from Candidasa and get there about 25 minutes. Once we arrived at the Bali Asli, we were greeted with one of the signature drinks made from lemongrass, ginger and spices (it was so good that we ordered more, so you should try it) which set the tone for a wonderful and unique experience.
The view from the restaurant is amazing. We went to the local market with the chef who was very patient to explain a lot of useful knowledge about the ingredients.
Upon returning to the restaurant, we learned how to make small flower baskets that you see as sacrificial offerings in the temple and introduced to the ways of praying in Bali. This is a wonderful way to start our cooking journey with a mindfully.
And then we were taught a variety of dishes using traditional tools such as volcanic rock and complex combinations of local ingredients. We really appreciate that the basic ingredients of the dishes have been prepared so that we can focus fully on the instruction and implement them. The chef is very passionate and committed with his lessons so that it was one of a kind experience. After all the work is done, we have to enjoy our lunch with the best view ever.
