Things to do in Candidasa? Visit Tirta Gangga Water Palace - Karangasem - East Bali


Tirta Gangga is a famous tourist attraction in the Eastern part of Bali. Formerly the Water Palace of Tirta Gangga is Karangasem Kingdom Water Park. Until now, this Park serves as a tourist place Tirta Gangga Water Palace in Karangasem. The majority of tourists who vacation in this tourist attraction are domestic and foreign tourists from various parts of the world. This place is really amazing with beautiful scenery, a sense of calm and peace. It has a tiered fountain, a garden, and a mythical stone sculpture that spouted water into the pool. Just outside the palace area, the lush paddy field scenery in the northeast of Bali is stunning



What is the meaning of Tirta gangga? Tirta Gangga literally means water from the Ganges River and a site of some tribute to Balinese Hinduism. Tirta Gangga was built in 1948 by Karangasem Raja Anak Agung Agung Anglurah, Ketut Karangasem. However, the name is used to refer to the General area which includes the Water Castle and the lush countryside. The Water Palace is a maze pool of Tirta Gangga Waterpalace and a fountain surrounded by gardens and lush and carved stone carvings. the complex was built in 1946 by the late King Karangsem but was almost entirely destroyed by the eruption of nearby Mount Agung in 1963. However it has been rebuilt and restored after that.


From Candidasa to Tirta Gangga can reach less than 45 minutes by vehicle. You can rent a car or motor scooter, or hire a driver / taxi service for daily trips from the hotel where you stay. Entrance to Tirta Gangga Water Palace which is not free aka entrance fee will be charged with difference of local and tourist price. There is also a small pool where you can swim and relax in, at an additional cost of about 10K IDR. But this is a small price to pay for taking a dip on a hot summers day after a walk around the beautiful garden.


Note: Like elsewhere in Bali, the Water Palace of Tirta Gangga is considered a sacred place that has a temple site. So you can bring a sarong with you, and if you forget they provide a sarong near the entrance to rent it
